Hi, friends! It’s a been a long month since I have been here last and we chatted budget friendly skincare. I turned 30 and that made me oh so sad, I’m actually still in denial about it. I’ve come to realize that the humidity in New Jersey is just god awful and does nothing for my skin. I’ve been getting super dried out. I’m not entirely sure why but this month has been treacherous for my skin so I knew I needed a good scrub! Not one to want to spend $25+ on something I can make in my kitchen (like all these awesome kitchen beauty tips) I knew that I could just whip something up, since I chose to add a little flair and make it pink I figured it’d be perfect for all of my Pink Heels Pink Truck friends!
Ah, isn’t it just SO pretty? I’m a total pink lover and this just made me smile big. It’s super easy to make and you can literally do it in about 3 minutes and be good to go. I use it on my face, body and even my lips for some gentle exfoliation. It’s even edible, ya know if you happen to get some in your mouth while scrubbing your lips. You can pretty much go for whatever color you like or keep it plain, up to you. I like pretty things so I had to grab my food coloring and get all sorts of creative.
- Sugar
- Coconut Oil
- Food Coloring
- A small container
- Scoop 1 1/2 cups of sugar into a mixing bowl
- Use 1 drop of pink food coloring
- Add 3 tsps of coconut oil
See? Easy peezy! You can obviously leave out the food coloring and you’ll have a plain white sugar scrub but I like to live on the edge. I promise, you will NOT turn pink when using this scrub, I tested it all over my face just to be sure. You can use any color food coloring you like, these all make for great party favors! Coconut oil (I used this in it’s solid form) will help to moisturize your as you gently exfoliate with the scrub but can also be swapped out for another oil you have on hand like olive oil. Just scoop it into the palms of your hands and go to town and rinse with warm water. I use it before I turn the shower on and still wash as per usual.

Does the food coloring dye or come off onto your skin or clothes?

I’ve made body scrubs before but have never used coconut oil. I was just reading about the amazing benefits of coconut oil. I’m going to add this to my mix 🙂

I received a similar scrub as a gift. Took me forever to try it but when I did I was hooked. My face looks so much younger now that I use it. I use it three times a week. So glad to have a recipe for it, now. I’m running low on my supply. Thanks. (Pinned it)

This is such a cute idea! I’ve made a DIY scrub before, but this one is much simpler than the one I tried. I love this!

I just made a couple of scrubs and used crushed peppermint candy w/ sugar for one and lemon essential oil in the other-So Yummy! Oh and I use half coconut and half olive oil so the coconut oil doesn’t solidify.
For a foot scrub you can add some epsom salt as well- HAPPY Scrubing!
