Raspberries and Vinegar by Valerie Comer
Goodreads.com Synopsis:
Josephine Shaw: complex, yet singleminded. A tiny woman with big ideas and, some would say, a mouth to match. But what does she really know about sustainable living as it relates to the real world? After all, she and her two friends are new to farming.
Zachary Nemesek is back only until his dad recovers enough to work his own land again. When Zach discovers three helpless females have taken up residence at the old farm next door, he expects trouble. But a mouse invasion proves Jo has everything under control. Is there anything she can’t handle? And surely there’s something sweet beneath all that tart.
My Review: 4 out of 5 stars. I really enjoyed this story. I thought it was a light read but had enough of a story that it kept me reading. I enjoyed all of the characters including spitfire Jo and I’m looking forward to learning more about them as the author has plans to turn this into a series. I thought the events of the story were relate-able and real. My only hangup was the punchy-ness of the sentences. I thought they had a bit more staccato to them then they should have. Meaning I wish the sentences flowed more smoothly. Other than that, it was a great read.
Now let’s talk about my favorite reads of 2013…

I LOVE book reviews! Thank you so much for this. I jotted several down, and as I headed to Amazon, I noticed how much cheaper the Kindle versions are. I’m always so behind on the latest technology, so even though I love to read, I don’t have a Kindle yet. My hubs is going to order a couple of these books so I can try them out on his tablet and see how I like it. So–your post did a ton of things for me today. Haha THANKS!

Hmm, I’ve only read one of the books on your list. Guess I need to check out some of the other ones if you recommend them so highly! 🙂
Happy New Year!
