This post is written in partnership with Brita. All thoughts and opinions are 100% my own.
I can remember the first moment I purchased a Brita Water Pitcher. I had just moved to Fort Worth to attend college and realized the water coming out of the tap in my dorm room was HORRIBLE. I never knew tap water to taste so horrid. LOL I think I must have been super lucky growing up in a town that had really good tap water. I remember thinking there was probably no way I was going to be able to haul 5 gallon jugs of water all the way from the Freshman Parking lot and up 3 flights of stairs all the time, so the big bottle water idea was out. I’m wasn’t that keen on throwing away a ton of plastic water bottles all the time either. I did some research and discovered Brita. And it’s been a long lasting love affair ever since.
When I went on the road full time for work in 2011, I hauled my Brita pitcher with me. It traveled with me from hotel to hotel. And never steered me wrong. Today I’m partnering with Brita to share a Strawberry, Lemon & Basil Infused Water Recipe. Drinking water is so important. Our bodies are made up of over 70% water. So staying hydrated to keep everything functioning properly needs to be top priority. I know, I know, I know…sometimes it’s not a priority. And I’m even with you on that front. The weekends are the hardest time for me to keep up with my water intake. I’m not on my normal routine and don’t have my water cup sitting out in front of me screaming “drink me” all of the time.
One way to mix things up is by infusing your water with fruit and herbs. Gives it a refreshing taste without adding any sugar.
Strawberry, Lemon & Basil Infused Water
Ingredients (makes 1)
1 strawberry, hulled and quartered
2 slices of lemon
2-3 basil leaves
Brita Filtered Water
Ice (if needed)
Directions
(Make ahead) Add the strawberry, lemon and basil to your glass of choice. Pour in your cold filtered water and stir. Let sit in fridge for 10-20 minutes to allow the water to infuse. If you don’t have time to let it infuse, simply muddle the fruit and herbs together with a bit of water and then pour in additional filtered water to top of your glass.
I recently went shopping at my local Albertson’s to pick up another Brita Water Pitcher. We don’t have one at our office, so I figured I’d grab another one. What I love most about Brita is that they are all about making improvements in all aspects of life; and that their philosophy extends into ensuring every drop of water is thirst-quenching and amazing to drink. This summer, Brita has teamed up with NBA all-star Stephen Curry and Albertson’s Grocery to raise awareness about the importance of making changes and improving your quality of life as a result. Whether it’s a change to improve your personal health and wellness, or a pact to lessen your impact on the environment, the change for cleaner, healthier water will improve how you spend your summer.
RANDOM FACT:
Did you know that the cost of investment in a Brita system each year is about $89 and the cost of buying bottled water is about $1,034??? Crazy savings right there!!
I’m excited to be able to share a Brita sweepstakes with you! One lucky reader will win their very own Brita Pitcher!!
