Last week, I was browsing around some of my Link Party Clients and their latest creations and I stumbled on A Dish of Daily Life’s Piña Colada Ice Cream Float and I was immediately intrigued! Umm…genius!! So I started thinking about what I cocktail I could turn into the float form and the next thing that popped out of my head was the Orange Creamsicle. It’s the perfect flavor combination…sweet orange sherbet and homemade vanilla ice cream. YUM! One of my favorite after lunch ice cream treats as a kid.
This cocktail is super easy to make and can be kid-friendly if you just leave out the alcohol! I sampled several Orange Sodas before decided on the one I used. Hands down, this one was the best…Nesbitt’s of California Orange Soda. You can pick it up at World Market (which is where I bought mine). This isn’t an ordinary Orange Creamsicle Float Cockail. My secret ingredient is flavoring the Whipped Vodka with orange peel.
Ingredients
3 scoops Favorite Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream
1 bottle Nesbitt’s Orange Soda (about 1 bottle per high ball glass)
2 oz. Whipped Vodka (I used Smirnoff’s version)*
1 Orange Peel
Marshmallow Fluff or Icing (to rim the glass)
Sprinkles
Directions
Take a highball glass. Rim the glass with marshmallow fluff or icing. Dip the rim in the sprinkles. Scoop out 3 scoops of ice cream and place in the glass. Pour in Orange-Infused Whipped Vodka. Top off with the Nesbitt’s Orange Soda. Enjoy!!
**To make your Orange Infused Whipped Vodka, take one section of an orange, cut the peel off with a pairing knife. Try to get as close to the peel as possible. Put in some whipped vodka (I used about 1/2 cup of Whipped Vodka). Let the orange peel infuse the vodka for at least 24 hours.
