I’m buried in snow up here in the North East, which means I’m sadly still wearing boots even though I’m dreaming of flip flops and gorgeous chunky sandals! So today I’m going to share with you some must have boots for your closet, and showing you how to wear them!
Riding boots: A classic boot, worn multiple ways (dresses, skirts, pants, jeans), riding boots should be had in multiple colors. I have a pair of cognac and black ones which can literally be worn with everything in my closet. Tip for preventing pants from riding up? Tuck them in your socks! 😉 I also love to wear my riding boots with leg warmers underneath. I feel like it adds a little something extra for a polished look (not to mention extra warmth!) Mine are literally over 5 years old (the benefits of buying quality!), but I also LOVE these by Lucky Brand!
Over the knee boots: You will see me wearing my OTK boots almost every week on my blog. I prefer them over riding boots because they are a little unexpected and really make an outfit stand out! My favorite ones (that you see me wearing here) are these Sam Edelmans.
Suede booties: My suede booties can be worn year round, which is why they’re a closet staple! I’ve worn them every season, with dresses, shorts, jeans, and even leather leggings. These are my favorite pair; they’re a cheaper version of the coveted Sam Edelman booties!
Leather booties: Ideally I would love a pair of leather booties in every color, but mine happen to be this gorgeous cognac (which I feel goes with everything). Again, these can be worn with everything from dresses to shorts. I don’t typically like to style leather booties with leather leggings (a personal preference, I just feel like that’s a lot of leather!), so that’s where the suede booties above would come into play. But trust me, a pair of cognac leather booties will do your closet good!
Combat boots: I love the grunge aspect a pair of combat boots adds to an outfit. I don’t wear these boots as often as I should, but I love how they’re in between a bootie and a knee high boot and can be dressed up or down!
Rain boots: I’m 1000000% a fan of Hunter rain boots and think every girl should own a pair. I know they’re not exactly cost effective, but they’re an investment and WORTH IT. Mine have worn so well. But even if you don’t want Hunters, definitely get a pair of rain boots for your closet because they make rain (and snow!) days a little more enjoyable 😉
Snow boots: Depending on where you live, you may or may not need these. For me, they’re a necessity this time of year. I love my Sorel boots, and they’re even cute enough to style with an outfit like you see here. I also love these and these!
Optional: cowboy boots! Taylor knows a thing or two about these! Which reminds me, Taylor…you need to recommend a pair for me!! 😉
If you already own some of these boots, I hope I inspired you to style them differently! And if you don’t have them, go treat yourself!

I have absolutely ZERO fashion sense but I’m feeling like Superwoman knowing that black leggings are OKAY with brown boots. Seriously, this just made my day. Thanks Lauren! 🙂

I have brought some ankle boots but need some that can be worn underneath pants instead of with the pants tucked in as my boots still gape and look weird. My cowboy boots have seen better days so I probably need to get a new pair. Maybe I just need to stick to sneakers!

So fun! I don’t have any over the knee boots because I feel that they make my legs look short (I do have short legs). But I do love my riding boots. What about high heeled ankle bookts? What would you wear those with?

This post is perfect. My favorites are combat boots. I’d love to get a pair of over-the-knee ones though.
