These Halloween Popcorn Balls are SO yummy! And perfect for the roundup of Halloween Treat Ideas I’ve gathered for you below the recipes. Actually, my bestie is sharing her Halloween Popcorn Ball recipe too. So 2 recipes + additional Halloween Treat Ideas featuring Sweet, Savory, Cocktails & Kids Drinks!!
Ingredients
Bag of Popcorn (I recommend Boom Chicka Pop)
1/2 bag of Mini Marshmallows
4 T. Butter
Peanuts
Peanut Butter Chips
Halloween Chocolate Chips
Pretzels – broken into pieces
Candy Corn
White Chocolate Chips
3 T. Peanut Butter
Food Coloring (Red & Yellow or Orange if you can find it!)
Black Icing
Small Container of Half & Half
Pirouettes
Directions
Melt the butter over Low Heat.
Add in half a bag of mini marshmallows into the melted butter. Stirring as they melt.
Remove the pot from the heat after the marshmallows have mostly melted.
Add the 1/2 a bag popcorn to the pot. Stirring to coat the popcorn with the marshmallow/butter mixture as quickly as possible.
Add 1/4 cup of each: peanuts, peanut butter chips, chocolate chips, pretzels, candy corn. (be creative with your additions if some of these items aren’t your cup of tea)
Continuing stirring to incorporate into popcorn mixture in between each addition.
Spray your hands with cooking spray and then form your popcorn balls (2-3 inches in diameter).
Place on waxed paper on a cookie sheet and let them cool/set-up completely. (I placed mine in the refrigerator to help the process).
For the Orange Coating to turn them into pumpkins
In a small saucepan over low-medium heat, add a bag of white chocolate chips and a couple of splashes of half & half. Add in the 3 Tablespoons of Peanut Butter. Melt completely, stirring to incorporate all of the ingredients. Add your orange food coloring to your desired color (or use 1 drop red : 2 drops yellow until the desired color of orange).
Once completely melted and the color of your choice, take the pan off the heat and allow the mixture to cool a bit before coating your popcorn balls. You want it to be the consistency of pudding before coating.
Dip your popcorn balls in the mixture, coating completely and then set back on the wax paper. Return to refrigerator to allow to set-up completely.
Decorate with black icing and cut up the pirouettes into pumpkin stems (attaching with a little bit of the black icing).
Enjoy!
Halloween Popcorn Balls (recipe #2 from my bestie, Alana…City Girl Meets Country Boy)
Ingredients
I popped 1/3 cup of popcorn kernels
1/2 cup honey
1/2 cup sugar
1/3 cup water
2 tbsp butter
1 bag of candy corn
1 cup mini marshmallows
1/3 cup mini semi sweet chocolate morsels
1 bag white chocolate chips
2 heaping Tablespoons peanut butter
5 Tablespoons Salted Butter
Instructions
I popped the popcorn and set aside
I then combined the honey, sugar, water and butter in a saucepan and gradually increased the heat while stirring constantly to get the temperature up to 280 degrees. I poured this over the popcorn and stirred until the popcorn was well coated. I then added the candy corn, mixed, added marshmallows, mixed and finally the chocolate morsels. After about 10-15 minutes I then began to mold them into balls on parchment paper.
I created tiger butter using 1 bag of white chocolate chips, 2 heaping T. of peanut butter and 5 T. of regular salted butter. I melted it all in a saucepan until well blended. Once it was well blended I pulled it off the stove to cool enough for handling and used a spatula to heap a pile on the balls and molded the tiger butter onto the balls.
