I’m having a fun time decorating my house for fall. I like to make most of my decor because it adds a personal touch to my house. Recently I made some pumpkins out of colored burlap and they turned out super cute! Follow along below to find out how to make them for your home as well!
DIY Burlap Pumpkins
I had previously purchased some 12×12 sheets of burlap but it could easily be purchased by the yard at your local fabric store. From this 12×12 sheet of burlap, I rounded the corners to make a circle (it does not need to be anything close to perfect).
Cut a piece of bakers twine a bit longer than the circumference of the burlap and tape off one of the ends (like a shoelace). Burlap has a rather large weave (and I didn’t have a needle that I could thread bakers twine into) so I used this taped end to sew it into the burlap. Use a sharp point like a toothpick to make the weave a bit bigger before pushing the thread through. Sew around the edge of the circle about 1/2 inch from the edge.
Once the thread has been sewn around the end of the burlap circle pull the ends to cinch the top together. Tie the ends in a knot so that it will stay tight.
For the stem, take a cinnamon stick and wedge it into the opening of the pumpkin.
I have mine hanging out on my mantle with some glassybabys.
Where would you display these pumpkins? What sort of colors would you make?
