A couple of my good friends are getting married later this year and I can’t be more excited for them. I love making wedding gifts and personalizing them when close friends of mine get married. Over time I’ve put together some fun gifts and this one is one of my favorites.
Personalized Serving Tray
For this project, I started with the Romantisk tray from Ikea. I was a nice light weight metal and already painted a neutral cream.
The fonts used are two different versions of Samantha Italic for the background “J” and Upright for their last name. I used my Silhouette Cameo to design and cut out the letters. The tray is 20×15″; the background “J” is 9″ tall and “Jennings” is 11″ long. This was a good size to fill up the tray but not overtake it. Make sure to use permanent vinyl so that it can put up with all the abuse a serving tray might take.
I’ve known the groom since Kindergarten and his favorite color (green) hasn’t changed since then so I made sure to include some green in this tray. The background “J” is in black to keep it more neutral and let the green pop.
One thing that is great about this gift is that it can serve multiple purposes. It can become a serving/beverage tray for when they have company over, or it can be used as part of a centerpiece on the coffee table along with some gorgeous vases or candles.
I love how this tray turned out and thinking that it might be a new gift staple for other weddings in the future. I also want to make one for myself! It would also be fun to try painting the tray a bright turquoise and then using some metallic vinyl.
Do you have a signature wedding gift? Is it something you make?
