I love simple crafts. Crafts that take too much time will generally get part way done and then sit on my kitchen counter for a few weeks before they get finished. These DIY Glittered Candles are great decor for upcoming holidays and can be made in minutes!
These glittered, striped candles only take a few items and I was able to find them all at my local dollar store (which is always a plus). The three items needed are:
- Pillar Candles
- Double Sided Tape
- Fine Glitter (the finer the better)
My dollar store had the fine glitter with the other arts & crafts supplies in little pouches. You want the finer glitter so that there are less gaps between each piece when it attaches to the tape.
One great thing about using double sided tape is it will automatically create a nice straight line for the glitter. Rip off a long piece of double sided tape and wrap it around the candle. You could also do things like vertical stripes if you wish. Pour a little bit of glitter onto the tape and use your finger to rub it onto the tape. Tap it onto a paper towel to remove the excess. Repeat around the candle until all of the tape is covered. Clean off the excess glitter outside of the tape by wiping the candle with a slightly damp paper towel.
These candles are so versatile and they could be used throughout the year – simply change the glitter color for the seasons and holidays. The pack of glitter that I bought had fall-ish colors but glitter comes in any color imaginable so you could easily make these to exactly match your decor.
I put mine on the coffee table along with some fall colored glassybaby and my fall table runner. Gold glitter is always fun and adds some excitement to my fall decor. How are you decorating for the upcoming holidays?
