I received this product as a PR Sample. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I braid my hair a lot during the summer time. Especially on Day 2 hair. I can be sitting somewhere and my hands will naturally start braiding my hair. Most of the time I have a hair tie with me and leave it braided. Sometimes I don’t have a hair tie and I just have to let go and watch the braid unravel. Recently, Redken sent me a sample of their Braid Aid 03. I’ve used it a handful of times now and I can definitely tell a difference when I use it on my hair. It gives it a bit of texture that helps my super fine hair try and stay in place.
I find that it worked better on my hair when I had a tight braid. When I tried a loose braid, my layers in my hair were a bit more noticeable. I think had I applied a bit more product, that would’ve helped. My loose braid did stay put so that’s a win in my book!
The product comes in a pump-able tube and it has a nice smell to it. I don’t know if I would’ve picked this up on my own as I never would’ve thought “oh hey, I need some product for my braid”. I’ve used texturizing spray and sea salt spray that gave my hair texture for this in the past. I think what it has going for it, though, is the fact that helps super fine hair stay put in a braid without having to make a tight braid.
I could totally see momma’s with little’s in dance using a product specifically for braids. Could come in handy in a pinch!
Redken Braid Aid 03 retails for $25.
Is this something you would try? Do you braid your hair often?
