This skincare post is written in partnership with Olay Daily Facials. All stories and opinions are 100% my own.
Good skincare habits have been engrained in me ever since I was a little girl. I can remember my mom encouraging me to wash my face in the morning and definitely before bed time. However, the before bed time part was always more challenging because I had a some lazy night-time beauty habits. 😉 But, I’ve always remembered her advice and her advocacy for great skincare and I feel like my skin and its condition can be attributed to her skincare tips and guidance. Today, I’m sharing some of her tips for washing your face the right way.
TIP #1: Pick the RIGHT product.
The right face wash makes ALL of the difference in the world. You want one that will remove the dirt, makeup and grime, but at the same time will not strip away too much of your skin’s natural oils. Olay Daily Facials is a 4-in-1 Water Activated Cleansing Cloth that incorporates a cleanser, toner, mask and scrub all in one. It washes away dirt and makeup, tones the skin with an essential cleansing formula, hydrates with specialized Olay conditioners and exfoliates to smooth the skin’s surface. It does all of this with 1 single water activated cleansing cloth. It’s great for all face types (mine is oily in the t-zone but tends to be drier towards my cheek bones), uses a soap-free formula, and is dermatologist-tested. And can I say that my skin feels so incredibly clean after uses these cloths?! This is SO PERFECT for the girl on the go!! #nomakeuprequired
TIP #2: Don’t over wash!
It’s important to not over do the face washing. Our skin, especially our face, can only handle so much washing & scrubbing. If you don’t sweat a lot or slather on the sunscreen or wear makeup every day, you probably only need to be washing your face once per day. If you feel the need to wash any more than that without any of the above items present, just rinse your face with lukewarm water and call it good.
TIP #3: Pat your skin dry.
Have you heard that saying that you should “pat your skin dry” instead of wiping it dry? There’s a reason. Tugging and rubbing your skin with a towel, instead of patting it, can stretch your skin and cause the elastin to be at risk. No one wants the elastin to stop doing its job. It’s responsible for keeping the elasticity of your skin in check.
TIP #4: Use lukewarm water.
Did you know that your pores can’t “open and close” like we’ve all been made to believe?? While that hot water might feel good on your skin, it’s actually more harmful than good. Skip the hot water and opt for lukewarm temps when washing your face.

(Where I Party)
These cloths sound like what I need. My over 50 skin definitely needs a little more TLC.
I am so bad at washing every night!! This is a great reminder to do it though!
