A few weeks ago, I was contacted by a PR rep for NYX Cosmetics saying my business card was chosen from a Blissdom drawing and that I won the Spring NYX Line. Y’all this loot is the makeup motherload! 😉 My jaw hit the floor in awe as I unloaded everything! I am LOVING all the different shades of Butter Gloss. Seriously! This stuff is amazing! It’s color and it’s gloss all in one. Perfect for a girl who hates lipstick but wants color on her lips!
So let’s talk books…here are some reads I’ve finished lately.
I’ve Got Your Number by Sophie Kinsella
Goodreads.com Synopsis: I’ve lost it. 🙁 The only thing in the world I wasn’t supposed to lose. My engagement ring. It’s been in Magnus’s family for three generations. And now the very same day his parents are coming, I’ve lost it. The very same day! Do not hyperventilate, Poppy. Stay positive 🙂 !!
Poppy Wyatt has never felt luckier. She is about to marry her ideal man, Magnus Tavish, but in one afternoon her “happily ever after” begins to fall apart. Not only has she lost her engagement ring in a hotel fire drill but in the panic that follows, her phone is stolen. As she paces shakily around the lobby, she spots an abandoned phone in a trash can. Finders keepers! Now she can leave a number for the hotel to contact her when they find her ring. Perfect!
Well, perfect except that the phone’s owner, businessman Sam Roxton, doesn’t agree. He wants his phone back and doesn’t appreciate Poppy reading his messages and wading into his personal life.
What ensues is a hilarious and unpredictable turn of events as Poppy and Sam increasingly upend each other’s lives through emails and text messages. As Poppy juggles wedding preparations, mysterious phone calls, and hiding her left hand from Magnus and his parents . . . she soon realizes that she is in for the biggest surprise of her life.
My Review: 5 stars out of 5 stars. Absolutely loved this book! Sophie had me pulled in from the very first chapter. Honestly, I don’t think I’ve ever been disappointed by her books.
Miranda’s Big Mistake by Jill Mansell
Goodreads.com Synopsis: Even the worst mistake of your life can lead to true love in the end…
Miranda’s track record with men is horrible. Her most recent catastrophe is Greg. He seems perfect – gorgeous, witty, exciting. And he and Miranda are in love… until Miranda discovers he left his wife when he found out she was pregnant.
With the help of her friends, Miranda plans the sweetest and most public revenge a heartbroken girl can get. But will Miranda learn from her mistake, or move on to the next “perfect” man and ignore the love of her life waiting in the wings..
My Review: 5 stars out of 5 stars. Jill Mansell has never disappointed me. And she certainly didn’t start with this one. The story had fantastic characters. Great friendships. Quirky lead character (blue hair). Unexpected events (seriously had no clue some of things were about to happen). Fun/fab read!
Down and Out in Beverly Heels by Kathryn Leigh Scott
Goodreads.com Synopsis: From brunch in Bel Air to homeless in Hollywood…
Former actress Meg Barnes used to have it all: tony Beverly Hills address, Amex Black card, Manolos for every day of the month. Not to mention a career as a popular TV detective that made her glittering life possible. But her lifestyle of the rich and famous has turned into a reality show for d-listed starlets. Lost in her Louboutins, she has one man to thank: her con man of a husband.
Handsome FBI agent Jack Mitchell knows a suspect when he sees one—even if she’s as beautiful and gutsy as Meg. Meg’s ex “made off” with half of Hollywood’s wealth in an epic real estate scam. And Jack thinks Meg may have been involved.
Determined to prove her innocence Meg teams up with her quirky, movie-mad best friend to track down her fugitive husband and exact justice. But getting her life, and her career, back on track is harder than auditioning for Spielberg. Especially when her life is threatened. Meg has to trust Jack, the man who may want her behind bars…or as his leading lady for life.
My Review: 5 stars out of 5 stars. This was a first read for me via Kathryn Leigh Scott. And I loved it. Loved the story. Loved the characters. Loved the suspense in the storyline. I love that it’s set in Beverly Hills. I have a slight obsession with people who live there (The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills anyone??) LOL I hope Scott gives us another one of these soon! She’s got talent. At least in my opinion. This was an easy read!
