Wine is always a great item to bring along to freinds’ homes for dinner parties. Earlier this summer, I created a dual wine tote which is the perfect solution for toting along a couple of wine bottles. I wanted to make another version which featured another fun design – a glittered stag head!
To create this bag, start with a canvas tote (I got mine from JoAnns). I marked a center line down the long side of the bag and did a quick stitch to create two “pockets” in the bag. This will prevent the bottles from clanking together while you are carrying them.
I cut the stag head out of Jade Glitter Heat Transfer Vinyl using my silhouette cameo. I absolutely love the jade glitter vinyl; not only is the color gorgeous, it cuts and applies really easily. The shape is from the Silhouette design store; however, the Silhouette design studio makes it easy to cut any sort of vector shape.
I always recommend selecting the “double cut” feature when cutting heat transfer vinyl, it helps the shape peel away easily. Once the shape is ready, simply place it on the tote bag, cover with a piece of fabric, then iron with firm pressure on high heat for 20-30 seconds. Let the design cool for a few seconds then peel the transfer sheet away. Cover with a piece of fabric again and press for 10-15 seconds to make sure that it is well adhered.
The tote worked perfectly and easily held multiple sized bottles. I can’t wait to make more of these bags, I think they would be perfect for birthday or Christmas gifts! There could even be a set of stag wine bags in different glitter colors. What other shapes do you think would be fun on these?
