A view of Cinderella’s Castle from the Contemporary Resort
Happy Halloween, y’all!!! Hope you have a safe one today!
This past weekend, me and my bestie, City Girl Meets Country Boy, flew to Florida for a girls trip to Disney World. Here’s a recap of our trip…starting with my flight to Florida.
First let’s talk about my Jelly Beans. I had picked up some Micky Mouse jelly beans the day before to help me get in the spirit of Disney. I made it to the airport and was in line to get my boarding pass and drop off my luggage. I was minding my own business and munching on my jelly beans as the line moved along. Finally it was about my turn, so I put the jelly beans back into my bag, or so I thought. When I was motioned over to the next kiosk, I pointed myself in that direction and started heading that way. And the next thing I hear is my jelly beans spilling out of the top of my bag onto the floor. And I mean they went everywhere.
I was so embarrassed. I bent down to start picking some of them up and then thought, man, that’s not going to do any good. It’ll take me forever to pick them all up and I’ll just make the people behind me even more mad for waiting on the jelly beans to be swept up. So I just went on over to the kiosk saying a hundred apologies. The man behind the counter called over the speaker “jelly bean clean up” please. And I about died. I was so embarrassed.
Moving on. I headed to get into the security line only to be accosted by a drug dog. Well, he/she didn’t actually accost me, but he/she did put his/her nose into my leg. I actually felt more sorry for the older gentleman ahead of me. The dog had to be pulled away from that gentleman.
And these 2 stories happened before I even made it out of the airport. 😉
Waiting in line for the Disney Magical Express to take us to our Hotel, Bay Lake Tower at the Contemporary Resort.
I’m so excited to be receiving my Magic Bands!!
So this was my first ever trip to Disney World. I’ve been to Disneyland a couple of times but never Disney World. Recently, Disney launched a beta program with these wrist bands called Magic Bands. I opted to give them a go for our trip. This is the coolest thing ever. The band is linked to your room (it acts as your room card), to your credit card (so you can purchase food/items in the parks), to your tickets (so you can get into the parks) and it has your name printed on the inside and comes in a fancy box with your name printed underneath your band. The picture above is me showing off the bands.
I received my 1st Visit pin on arrival!!
As soon as we got checked in, it was time for the fireworks over at Magic Kingdom. I’m a DVC Member (Disney Vacation Club) and we had access to go up to the roof to view the fireworks. We didn’t have time to drop off our luggage, so we just hauled it up to the roof.
The fireworks lasted a good 20 minutes if not longer. They were AMAZING!! And can you believe that fireworks go off every night in the various parks?! AMAZING!!
After the fireworks were complete, we took our luggage up to our room and then went in search of food. We decided to ride the bus over to Downtown Disney and ended up in Raglan Road Irish Pub. We had some yummy food and listened to a fun Irish Band. They were amazing musicians until they opened their mouths to sing. Oh man.
Giving the Statue some Pink Heels Pink Truck kisses. 😉
Well, that’s it for the first day. Come back next week to learn about our day at Epcot and the International Wine and Food Festival.

Ah! We are going in February and you post has me so excited. Disney World is one of my favorite places. I haven’t been in forever, so I didn’t know about the bands! Although we’re staying in a Disney Timeshare, so I’m not sure if we can get the bands? I’ll have to look into them!

I wonder if they ever had to call “jelly bean clean up” before? You know that they could have just said “cleanup” but they chose to give that extra detail…
