Happy Fall! This year is going by so quickly and it is already time to start decorating for Halloween. I have never enjoyed cutting jack-o-lanterns for a couple reasons but mostly because I am terrible at it and I always forget to dispose of them off of my porch before they start to get a little funky. Today’s Easy DIY Mason Jar Pumpkin craft is the perfect solution if you are like me and are pumpkin-phobic.
For this craft, you need 4 items:
- Mason Jar (I used a quart size)
- Painters/Masking Tape
- Orange Spray Paint
- Battery Operated Tealight
Cut out the jack-o-lantern face from the masking tape. For the mouth, I made my tape a little wider by overlapping two strips and drawing an approximate shape. I put my face upside down on the jar so that I could simply set the jar on top of the tealight and also avoid it getting rain inside. If you are using a real candle, make sure to put yours right side up otherwise your candle will simply go out when you put the jar over it.
Next, spray paint the jar orange. It will take a couple coats to really get the glass covered well. Once the paint is dry and all the coats are done, peel off the masking tape to reveal the jack-o-lantern face and it is ready to display on your porch! With multiple sized jars you could even create a little jack-o-lantern family for your fall decor.
Do you have favorite fall decor? I’d love to hear about how you decorate for this season!

Spotted the sweet kitty on Something To Talk About and had to comment. 🙂 I have mason jars in spades and have been looking for a luminary idea that won’t blow out in the wind. Love the idea!
