Brad and I always end up with loose change at the end of the day and I was trying to come up with some cute way to keep this stored away until I take it to Coinstar (tip: if you turn it into a gift card there are no fees so I always turn it into a Starbucks gift card). Pink, Gold and glitter things always make me happy so I decided to use those aspects into making a cute coin bank.
Materials (I got all of mine at JoAnns):
- Gold Mirrored Mason Jar
- Standard Mouth Slot Lid & Band
- Gold Spray Paint
- Pink Glitter Tape (The one I got was for the Heidi Swapp Marquee Letters)
The mason jar was already gold; however, I used some gold spray paint for the lid and band. It only took one coat (and a few minutes to dry).
Cut the Pink Glitter Tape to slightly longer than the jar circumference. Slowly wrap the jar with the tape, making sure that it stays straight. When you reach the other end, overlap the pieces slightly.
If you are using the coins to save up for something, you could use some Sharpie Paint pens to write “Coffee Fund”, “Vacation Fund”, “New Car Fund” or whatever else you are dreaming about.
I’m going to add this coin bank to my night stand so that Brad can easily empty his pockets into it (plus I can keep an eye on it to see when it is ready to become a Starbucks gift card)! What colors would you use for your coin bank?

Fun project, and nice to know that banks can be handy for adults too! And of course one could use this as a charity box (tzedaka box) too! thanks for sharing on craft schooling Sunday!

Cute, easy project! This would be great for kids to make so they could start saving and be proud of it! Thanks for sharing at the Family Joy Linkup! Hope to see you again next Sunday!

My man makes neat little piles of his coins in his wardrobe. Sometimes there’s lots of piles of coins. Little towers. maybe a few jars like this is the solution I’m after. I could attach a little chalkboard sticker for each denomination and there would be no more towers. I think I might have to give this a go.
