Several years ago (like college years ago), I had a chance to visit Churchill Downs with the TCU Swim Team (we had a swim meet against Louisville). It was pretty spectacular to walk on the track where the Kentucky Derby has been held each year since 1875. Can you even imagine the fashion throughout those years?? Ohhhh, to see pictures!
The Kentucky Derby has always been known for it’s fashion and it’s hats! That’s my favorite part (well the race itself is pretty cool too). There’s a lot that goes into to getting ready for a day at the Kentucky Derby. You’ve got to find a dress, a hat, the right makeup, the right shoes, the right finishing accessories.
Here’s my Derby Fashion inspiration…the Dresses…
Dress 1 | Dress 2 | Dress 3 | Dress 4 | Dress 5 | Dress 6 | Dress 7 | Dress 8
…the Hats…
Hat 1 | Hat 2 | Hat 3 | Hat 4 | Hat 5 | Hat 6
Cottonelle is upping the ante at this year’s Kentucky Derby and launching “The Great Cottonelle Finish,” a giveaway that will reward Americans with a year supply of Cottonelle products should the No. 1 and No. 2 positioned racehorses place in that order during the race. People looking to get in on the action can sign up at the Cottonelle landing page. The first 15,000 entrants to sign up will be awarded a year’s supply of Cottonelle toilet paper and flushable cleansing cloths if the outcome aligns.
A year up TP?? Yes please! Who couldn’t use a year supply of Cottonelle products?? #letstalkbums
I so wish I was heading to the Derby “celebrity style” this year (on the bucket list!). Because guess what…Cottonelle is sponsoring the Green Room! Before celebrities hit the red carpet and the races, they first stop in the green room to relax and freshen up. Cottonelle will be on-hand in what they’re dubbing the “Clean Room” with refreshments, a hair and makeup touch-up/refresh station and a fun opportunity to chat with Cherry. How fun would that be to have a place to freshen up?? It’s usually pretty warm at the Kentucky Derby, so this would be an awesome way to stay fresh!
If money were no option, how would you get ready for the Kentucky Derby? What would you wear? Are you a big hat kind of girl? Or are you a fascinator hat kind of girl? Would you go all out with big southern-belle-esque dress or keep it simple with a cute sundress?

I love that hat round-up! Oh can you imagine if it was fashionable to wear those for more events??

I have never worn a big hat, but yes totally would want to go to the Kentucky derby all dressed up with the big hat, that would be so much fun. I think I could pull off the big hat look 🙂

I LOVE that 6th dress & the 2nd hat! One of these days I’m going to have to go to the Derby just to see what all the hype is about.
