Outlander by Diana Gabaldon
Goodreads.com Synopsis:
The year is 1945. Claire Randall, a former combat nurse, is just back from the war and reunited with her husband on a second honeymoon when she walks through a standing stone in one of the ancient circles that dot the British Isles. Suddenly she is a Sassenach—an “outlander”—in a Scotland torn by war and raiding border clans in the year of Our Lord…1743.
Hurled back in time by forces she cannot understand, Claire is catapulted into the intrigues of lairds and spies that may threaten her life, and shatter her heart. For here James Fraser, a gallant young Scots warrior, shows her a love so absolute that Claire becomes a woman torn between fidelity and desire—and between two vastly different men in two irreconcilable lives.
My Review: 5 out of 5 stars. I started the Outlander series back in 2006ish and have wanted to start over so many different times but I never seemed to find the time up until recently. Hello Audible.com. Since I’m on the road a lot for work, I finally found the time to start the series over. The Outlander books are ginourmous and have tiny print. I’m talking like 1700 pages per book. And because I love to read so much, I didn’t want to feel burdened by a long read (if you could only see my to-read pile, you’d understand this last statement). 😉 Anyways…I truly do recommend this series. The first book get the action going. It’s beautifully written and the characters really do come back to life. I love learning about the history of the period as the story progresses. Whether to schlep out the time to read the book or listen to it on audio, I HIGHLY recommend this series. Historical fiction with some time travel thrown in. Definitely a great book investment!!!
What are you reading? Any recommendations for me?

I own this book and have started it but then stopped. It’s so big that it’s kind of intimidating. With my limited reading time I feel like it would take me forever to read it. But I’ve heard such great things about it!
