One of my favorite makeup products is mascara. Because you can really make your eyes standout with a really good application of it. There are so many different kinds…some that give you a classic look, some that provide volume, some that provide curling power and on and on. The amount of different types/kinds of mascara that are released each season make me giddy to try new things. But no matter the kind you choose, it still comes down to application to achieve the ultimate lash look. Today’s post is written in partnership with Simple. Read on for 5 mascara hacks that you’ll want to try ASAP.
HACK #1
Add a coat of waterproof mascara on top of your regular mascara formula to help the staying power of your lash look. (TIP: By doing this, you’ll have the benefit of having an easier time removing your mascara at the end of the day with Simple’s Dual Effect Eye Makeup Remover)
HACK #2
Soak your mascara tube in hot water for about 5 minutes to soften the mascara inside. This will help in application, making it easier to apply. (TIP: This will also help get the last bit of mascara out of the tube before it’s time to toss.)
HACK #3
Curl your lashes before mascara application and after mascara application (but only after the mascara has dried).
HACK #4
Coat the top side of your lashes. Make sure you are coating both sides. (TIP: Normal method is underneath and sweeping side to side and up at the same time…do the same thing on the top of your lashes.)
HACK #5
Use a spoon or business card (or tissue or piece of scrap paper) under your lower lashes to prevent mascara from getting on your skin. (TIP: Use a business card to help guide your cat eye liner application.)

These mascara hacks will definitely up your lash game!! And with any good mascara, you need a good eye makeup remover to take it back off. That’s where Simple comes in. 2 products that you’ll want to add to your Walmart beauty shopping list STAT is their Dual Effect Eye-Makeup Remover and Hydrating Cleansing Oil. Both are excellent at removing makeup. And if you haven’t tried a cleansing oil to clean your face (and remove your makeup) this is one you’ll want to try. Made with pure grapeseed oil, the Hydrating Cleansing Oil is effective at deeply cleaning and removing makeup without leaving your skin greasy. Trust me…it’s amazing. Never fear, with the Simple brand, that you can’t experiment with your makeup and not be able to take it off.
Find both of these products plus some of the other Simple skin care products, including their Cleansing Facial Wipes (which I keep on my nightstand!), at your local Walmart.

HI Taylor, I wanted to check out your tips and love the spoon idea. I found another tip I do all the time and that is to make a tube of mascara last longer. If it starts to dry out, add a few drops of contact eye drops solution (this is for moistening the eyes) to the tube, let sit overnight before using. I make a tube of mascara last for up to 3 months longer.
Thanks for sharing on the #OMHGWW this week!
Have a wonderful week!

Hi Taylor, Thanks for these tips! I’m in my sixties now and have a terrible time with eyelashes not staying curled. (I don’t recall having this problem at younger ages). I’m going to try these hacks and hope that one will address this problem. Thanks for sharing this info! Blessings, Janet
