Let’s talk about winter skincare. Oooomph. My skin takes a beating in the winter time. I sit in my office, day in and day out, with a little mini heater (so that I don’t run our furnace non-stop). And this little mini heater wrecks my skin. You want to know how I know? I cannot drink water fast enough. The feeling of pure thirst is upon me daily. So I can only imagine what my skin is truly feeling. This is when I start looking forward to spring so I can come out of this dry heat induced cocoon. With a change in season, comes a change in skincare routines. I begin adjusting the types of creams I’m putting on my face. I implement a bit more SPF into my routine because I know I’ll start spending more time outdoors. And I try and continue to drink all of the water. I’ve compiled a list of some winter to spring skincare tips for the #girlonthego because I know that having a cheat sheet can come in handy when you’ve got a million other things on your mind!
TIP #1: Switch your moisturizer to something lighter.
There’s a big difference between winter and summer and there should be a big difference in what you are using for a moisturizer in the various seasons. I’m not saying that you need to switch things up every time we roll into a new season, but you should at least be making a switch from winter into spring. Winter moisturizer’s should have a thicker consistency. Spring/Summer moisturizer’s need to be a bit thinner.

TIP #3: Keep exfoliating…but pull back the reins a bit.
It’s true that our skin tends to dry up a bit during the winter months, keeping us in the exfoliating game. However, as springtime begins to descend upon us, we need to slow down so that we don’t damage our skin. Aim to exfoliate 1-2 times per week.
