Want to spice up your next fiesta? How about this Spicy Grapefruit Margarita??
Recently, a friend of ours showed up with a box full of grapefruits. I’m not even kidding when I say a box full. Not wanting these juicy fruits to go to waste, I knew immediately that I wanted to make a few cocktails. First up…this Spicy Grapefruit Margarita. Sweet grapefruit and spicy jalapeños combine for a flavor profile that dances in your mouth. The typical grapefruit-jalapeño combo uses tequila that has had jalapeños soaked in it for a few hours (the longer it soaks, the hotter it gets). I decided to try a different route. I wanted to do a jalapeño simple syrup. I added 2 slices of a jalapeño to my sugar-water mixture and let it steep for about 15 minutes once the sugar was fully dissolved. The result…a peppery sweet goodness, perfect for adding into this margarita.
Ingredients for 1 Margarita
2 oz tequila (I used a gold tequila)
4 oz fresh grapefruit juice
1 oz fresh lime juice
1 Tablespoon jalapeño simple syrup
Small wedge of a grapefruit for garnish
2 Small slices of jalapeño for garnish
Pink Himalayan salt mixed with a bit of chili powder for rimming
Directions
In a cocktail shaker with ice, combine the tequila, grapefruit & lime juice and jalapeño simple syrup. Shake, shake, shake. Take your grapefruit wedge and wet the rim of your glass. Dip your glass edge in the pink himalayan/chili powder mixture. Pour the contents of the cocktail shaker into your glass. Garnish with the grapefruit wedge & jalapeño slices. Enjoy!
*Always drink responsibly!

YUM! I spotted this in the Pretty Pintastic Party! I am not a big tequila person, but switch it up with some vodka and this has my name all over it (LOL I guess you couldn’t call it a margarita, but hey…why not?). I LOVE drinks with jalapeño. Pinning this one!
