This post is written in partnership with My Fit Foods. All stories and opinions are 100% my own.
How many times have you fallen off the health and fitness wagon this year? We are all human. Including myself. I haven’t been as active as I normally am and I know I have to change that. I can tell that my body starts to weaken. Things don’t feel like they are working quite right. Surprisingly, the one thing that I haven’t neglected is my eating habits. And at least 60% of all healthy lifestyle goals are made in the kitchen, not the gym. Shocking right?? Have you ever heard the phrase “your abs are made in the kitchen, not the gym?” It’s completely true. Good nutrition makes up 60-70% of your healthy lifestyle goals. While only 30-40% comes from exercise. Not knocking exercise because I’m a huge supporter of it, but you have to get your eating priorities straight. Calories in vs Calories out. It all starts in the kitchen.
I’m going to toot my own horn here. My eating is actually on point. Do you remember the Green Smoothie recipe I shared a few weeks back? I drink that smoothie every morning for breakfast and it holds me until a little after lunch. Then I snack on hummus, fruit or whatever I have on hand at work. For dinner, I like to pair a lean protein with some veggies. Sounds pretty boring, but I can tell you that my body is truly appreciating the wholesomeness from it all. Now, I just need to get my rear in gear and get back to working out like I was before.
I’m confident that my wagon is about to pick me back up. One thing is for certain, though, I really couldn’t do all of this without support from my friends and family. Having a support system in place is an essential component to maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Having someone to share your daily wins and your daily struggles. Someone to push you when you can’t quite push yourself. Someone to cheer you on when you achieve a health victory. It all reinforces your healthy lifestyle journey. And your goals…they get blown out of the water when you have a support system in place. If you don’t have a support system in place, nix the people that are pulling you down and surround yourself with people who will lift you up. No one has time for sabotage. You’ll end up spinning your wheels and the merry-go-round will just keep on going. Find people who are interested in a healthy lifestyle and start buddying up with them. There are programs on line and apps and fitness trackers that come with their own platforms that can pair you up with people trying to walk a similar journey. Get involved. Find a running club or a biking club. Just find people that are on a similar journey as you.
You can do this. I hear your wagon coming! Get back on it!!

Great advice for getting strategic about eating clean (the most sure-fire way to control weight), and drawing on a support network to exercise regularly! (I recently learned that people with exercise and nutrition goals who join an online support network DOUBLE their chances of acing their goals! Wowzers!) That’s also great to learn about My Fit Foods’ commitment to helping others. I have purchased meals at their Phoenix location, and some of my clients do too. It’s a great, convenient way to get heathy in a hurry!
