Wow – January is halfway over and I’m wondering what happened to the first 15 days! ha! I’ve been busy working behind the scenes on several of my other businesses – my vintage rental business, my podcast and a brand new adventure launching sometime this first quarter (come on web developer guy!). I feel like my blog has taken a major back seat to these other things – which for now, I am completely okay with. This site has always been a place for me to unleash my creativity. A place for me to share things I’m doing or things I’m working on. It’s never been a place that had to be updated all of the time (because that’s what’s happening on my IG or through my other businesses). With that being said, I thought I’d share what’s been on my radar over the last few months!
FASHION
For Christmas, my MIL bought me these amazing snow boots from Ugg. I absolutely LOVE them!! And I don’t even live in a state that receives snow all that often. But they are so warm. And if YOU live in a state that has snow more than I have snow, I’m going to recommend them to you!
I’ve also been adding a few more sweaters and full outfits to my wardrobe recently. I have to thank the recent Nordstrom sale to these additions. 😉
BOOKS
I recently finished Book 5 (Tutti Frutti) in Mike Faricy’s Dev Haskell series. Not a huge fan of male author’s but Mike does a good job with this mystery series and I’ve been hooked since Book 1. Bonus if you are a Kindle Unlimited subscriber: Book 5 is free for you!
I also recently finished Love Unlisted by Stephanie Haddad. It’s been sitting on my Kindle for forever (I don’t even know how I came to own a copy!) and I finally decided to open it up and dive in. It took me awhile to get into the book. I had a hard time connecting with the lead – but around 30% in, she finally hooked me. I didn’t rate it a 5 out of 5 (because of the slow connection for me), but I did give it a 4 out of 5.
Up next…actually I’m really not sure. I have a huge list but sometimes I get book-overwhelmed! lol Does this happen to you?? I did recently share what made my Favorite Books of 2017 in case you are on the hunt for something new to read. And if you’ve recently read a wow-worthy novel, leave a comment and let me know!
BEAUTY
Girlllll – winter weather and my hair do not go well together. I have long struggled with an oily scalp + a scalp that also like to flake in the front. No where else do I have a dryness issue. Just in the front. I googled and googled and googled for a natural hair product that would handle my oily scalp with the dryness/flaking issue and I think I have finally struck gold. Not even kidding. I only wash my hair every 2-3 days, so I’ve only used the shampoo + conditioner 3 times since purchasing it. But I can already tell a difference. Here’s what I’m using in case you are needing something new to try too:
Natural Oily Hair Shampoo with Organic Essential Oil Formula from Honeydew
Moroccan Oil Conditioner- Organic Conditioner- Natural Conditioner For Oily Hair, Itchy Scalp, Flakes And Dandruff- Scalp Build Up Control- Safe For Color Treated Hair- Sulfate Free. 8 oz from Tru Moroccan
I think I just found a shampoo + conditioner (that’s also good for you) that finally gets me!!
HOME
Another beautiful gift from my inlaws for Christmas – an Amazon Echo Dot. And I love it. I bought my husband one for Christmas last year (so in 2016) and since they are really inexpensive, I added one to my list for this year. When I walk into my office in the morning, I say “Alexa, Good Morning” and she gives me a run down of the weather, a bible verse, a snippet from Gary Vee, last nights’ Jimmy Fallon monologue and NPR news. I programed her to do all of that and it’s so awesome! I can also tell her to set timers for me, to help keep me on schedule. LOVE.HER.
I also appreciate the Amazon emails that give me ideas on different things I can ask her. So, thank you Amazon.
BIZ LIFE
Wow oh wow – my biz life is really trucking along!! In the final prep stages for a new business launch, specifically for the wedding industry. Recently just had an aha moment on how to structure my day in relation to my to-do list. You can check out my latest podcast episode and hear more about it + get some inspo for showing up in your business every day. (It’s all related together!!)
BLOGGING
It’s been slow around these parts when it comes to me blogging for me – but I promise, I’m not going anywhere. I’ve got way too much to share and teach. Just keep checking back (or sign up for my email list so you don’t miss out on my posts!!) My goal is to be able to write something for you every week. That’s a stark contrast to the beginning of 2016 when I was writing and publishing content Monday-Friday. Life transitions and new adventures being on my plate completely changed how I blogged, but this will always be my creative space. And because I teach about blogging and how to blog, you can always find a new episode of my podcast over at Boss Girl Creative every Wednesday. Sitting at 136 episodes now and no plans for quitting any time soon! If you are a blogger or want to become a blogger, I’ve got the resources for you!! Learn how to start a blog with this post and then get cracking with listening to Episode 96 of my show to listen to the episodes that newbies need to ingest first!
WEDDINGS & EVENTS
Would you believe that I just worked with FORD on a commercial??? Not me, me – but my event rentals?? Yep. Excited to see how that turns out.
I’ve been waiting to see what wedding trends are going to be the “it” thing for this year. So far I’m loving what JuneBug Weddings is saying are the top wedding trends for this year!! Check it out if you haven’t already!!
Until next month, I hope you’ve enjoyed my January On My Radar!!
