My schedule is nuts, y’all. I work on the road full time. I’m always going, going, going and I don’t even mean running errands or anything. I’m either cleaning, blogging, creating, cooking or whatever it is that’s on my to-do list. The other night my hubs watched a movie. I was in the kitchen cooking dinner and working on a new cocktail creation. He came into the kitchen to get dinner and said, “Oh, I just watched a really good movie. I saved it on the DVR for you. You will really like it.” As I picked up the remote to the small TV I in the kitchen he looked at me and said “Taylor, go lay down in the other bedroom and watch the movie. Take a break and just chill.” Ohhh…I don’t need to be multitasking while I watch said movie? Ohhh…gotcha.
So, I did just that. I shut my laptop down. Cleaned up the kitchen and went and watched the movie. It was a pretty decent movie. I have no clue what it’s called but it had Chris Evans in it and he’s hot man candy so I enjoyed it. 😉 LOL
Does this scenario sound familiar to you? Or is this just me? Planning a vacation is challenging because I’m a contractor. I don’t have paid time off. If I don’t work, I don’t get paid. If my hubs and I go anywhere, it’s typically on a weekend or maybe 3-4 days that center around a weekend. So, I’ve decided to try and schedule some more “me” time. Time where I’m not sitting on my computer 24/7 working on my blog or other business ventures I’ve got going on. Time where I can just sit and enjoy things I am truly missing out on. Like reading for example. I want to spend a Friday evening or maybe even all day Saturday just reading my heart out.
The weather has been nice lately and we’ve got a nice shade tree in the backyard where I can create a little oasis for myself. I grab a blanket, kick off my sandals, take off my sunglasses (since I’m in the shade), make sure my Kindle is charged, and grab a tasty Palm Breeze and just lounge the day away. Are you in heaven with me yet? There’s nothing wrong with day-sippin’ with my book. Especially if you are in your own backyard and on staycation! Remember this is your own vacay. Enjoy it!
I think I’m going to challenge myself to give myself one vacay day each month on a weekend to do nothing but enjoy my guilty pleasures. My own every day staycation. Are you up for the challenge? Take one 3-4 hour period if you can’t give up a full day, schedule it on your calendar, make sure the kids are taken care of and just invest in rejuvenating your creative energy.
Palm Breeze is a super tasty, sparkling alcoholic beverage. It comes in 2 flavors: Ruby Red Citrus and Pineapple Mandarin Orange. I’m loving the Ruby Red Citrus flavor! Think of a sparkling water but with alcohol. Yummmmmm!! This would be a perfect pool-side sipper too. A refreshing drink of the adult variety. #vacayeveryday
**Drink responsibly y’all!**
How are you going to create your own #VacayEveryDay?
