Fall is definitely on its way. I’m starting to see pumpkin everything in stores and have even witnessed a few trees with orange leaves. With summer coming to an end, so is the majority of canning season. I discovered that I still had a TON of mason jar bands in the garage and opted to turn them into a craft project.
Mason Jar Band Pumpkins
This project requires just a few items – 20 mason jar bands, one pipe cleaner and some brown paper.
Run a pipcleaner through the center of 20 mason jar bands. Make sure all of the bands are facing the same direction. Bring the ends of the pipecleaner together and twist it so that all of the bands are as close together as possible. Shift the bands around so that they are evenly spaced.
For the stem, I took some kraft paper (mine came from an amazon package), tore it into about a 6×6 square and then scrunched it together so that it looked like a stalk. Once you have the stem, push the end into the center of the bands. Brown or Green construction paper would also work well.
I made both a standard mouth and wide mouth pumpkin. One thing that is great about this project is that it doesn’t ruin the bands so they can still be used next summer for canning.
These mason jar band pumpkins are a fun addition to my fall decor. They will have a home on my table until Christmas takes over!
