Holy smokes y’all. This cocktail…..is AMAZEBALLS. I’m tootin’ my own horn on this one. The spices (think holiday flavors), the tart cranberries, the moonshine…it all comes together in PERFECT Harmony!!! And the best part…it fills 16 – Half Pint Mason Jars (8 oz each). So you have the perfect mini gift for your friends and family!! They will thank you (and me!) for this gift, I promise!!! Okay, on to the recipe for my Spiced Cranberry Moonshine.
750 ml Junior Johnson’s Midnight Moon Moonshine
2 Jars of R. W. Knudsen Just Cranberry Juice (or 64 oz of pure cranberry juice)
3 cups of Apple Cider
1 lb. of Fresh Cranberries, rinsed
2 cups of sugar
6 Cinnamon Sticks
2 Whole Nutmegs (quartered…don’t make it perfect…I used a mallet)
1 teaspoon Whole Cloves
1/2 teaspoon Allspice Berries
1. Place all the ingredients EXCEPT the Moonshine in a large pot to boil. Once the mixture comes to a boil, turn to simmer and simmer until all the cranberries have popped. Stir frequently so nothing burns on the bottom of the pot.
2. Once all the cranberries have popped (they’ll start to accumulate at the bottom of the pop once they’ve popped), strain (use a cheesecloth or a fine mesh strainer) the liquid out into a large pitcher and discard the cranberries (or use in a dessert!) and spices.
3. Turn the heat off and return the liquid back to the pot. Let it cool down until it’s almost lukewarm. Then add in the Moonshine and stir to combine.
4. Pour into your Half Pint Mason Jars (make sure you sanitized them first!!) and store in the fridge for a few days to let all the flavors meld together (the longer the better!!). Wrap with ribbon and your gifts are ready!! Or enjoy for yourself!!
Cheers my friends!! **Always Drink Responsibly**
