Want to learn more about StumbleUpon?? You’ve come to the right spot!! This #bloggingedumacation lesson teaches you 6 StumbleUpon Tips that will help you become a master stumbler!! Stumble away my friends…
ONE | For StumbleUpon to really work for you, you need to publish AMAZING content. A post goes viral on StumbleUpon because the content is awesome-sauce. So really work on your content!
TWO | Do you have the StumbleUpon toolbar? It’s a definite must! I believe all the browsers have a plugin for it. Just double check. I use Firefox and it sits below my lowest toolbar.
THREE | Add a StumbleUpon Badge to your page and/or grab a plugin (if you are on WordPress) like Shareaholic or Digg Digg that includes a StumbleUpon share button.
FOUR | Fill out your StumbleUpon profile!! So important when people are looking to follow people!
FIVE | Follow people with like-minded interests. You can see what people like to stumble by checking out their SU DNA (ie are they mainly a food lover? or a craft lover?) It’s important to be selective with who you follow as you can only follow 500 people. So make them count!!
SIX | MOST IMPORTANT!!! Be authentic when stumbling. I highly recommend that you do not stumble your own content. IF you must stumble your own stuff (and I’m saying IFFFFFF), then make sure you stumble a ton of amazing content before or after you stumble your own content. Also, when you are stumbling, don’t just thumbs up everything. Only click that thumbs up button when you find something that is truly great. And DO NOT only stumble your friends content. If you are in a StumbleUpon group, make sure you are stumbling more than just the groups content. StumbleUpon algorithms are not dumb. You do NOT want your account suspended or worse…DELETED. So be smart with your stumbling!! Groups are great but make sure you are actively stumbling other people’s content without being prompted to do so.
Now for your Daily To-Do’s for StumbleUpon:
1. Get to stumbling!! Plain and simple! Spend 10-20 minutes each day stumbling.
There you go. Some awesome StumbleUpon Tips. Go forth and Stumble!! (You can even start by Stumbling this post!!) 🙂
